Yes. Romania is a big one. Not all women from those countries marry just to gain citizenship. Just be wary, but don't be closed off to women from those countries. You can usually tell when someones using you. Give this girl a chance.
what do you know about romania anyway? you believe everything that hits you in the face. and why do you ppl think you are any better than any romanian. and you, better leave that girl be if you lack neuronal activity. if you were any smarter i bet you'd be able to find someone were you live. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20090109114544AA6oWdO&kid=RbpHWUz2Ozc2qvTnZLUn&s=comm&date=2009-02-01+02%3A38%3A34&.crumb=
you cant just marry someone and move to the USA. and almost everyone who answered this was being stereotypical about romania. o please, im from there and women are NOT like that. plus, if youre going 2 just date her than you cant assume you'll get married! and woman are not that desperate 2 MARRY someone they dont want 2 be with so they can move 2 the USA.
none of us can tell you how that girl is. even if 99% of the women in romania were like that (which they're not!!), then she could still be in that 1%. just see how she is and see for yourself and dont be stereotypical about other countries.
If you don't want to date anyone with that hidden agenda, then don't be dating ANYONE in a country where the people are poor or repressed.
Yeah, that would include Romania.
I'm sure you will find that to be a big problem in any such country.
Mind you, they don't become citizens by marrying an American. That is NOT an instant ticket to American citizenship...They still have to live in this country for ten years, and then pass the exam, be sworn in and all that. They CAN get permission to live and work here (Green card) if they marry.
Any country with a lot of poor people will have women who want to date men just to get out of their situation. There are Romanian women who might be looking for that, but there are also others (like there are Chinese, Russian, etc) who will also only go out with people they love. You can't generalize about an entire countryy.
OMG...talk about prejudice...
1. mean question...there are other ways to get to US than marriage...
2. nobody can force you to marry a girl from Romania, right ?
3. such stereotype answers...almost all of them...
4. Romanian women are not at all like that...
5. not everybody is that desperate to immigrate to the US...
6. Romania is not a "desperate, depressed etc." country...
You will find such girls in any country, but the problem is greatly overstated in all that you mention.
Romanians, Russians, Ukrainians, etc, are not all that desperate to move to the USA, and the laws regarding bringing a woman to the US are set up to avoid such "scams".
A woman who marries a US citizen is not guaranteed a green card to the US, and after they obtain it (it is about a 2 to 3 year process), it takes another 3 years before they can apply for citizenship. If they leave the man during that time, they get deported and must reapply for the whole deal again (even if they remarry another citizen).
Most of the negative press that you see about these women is actually caused by men in those countries who prey on "stupid Americans" to scam them out of money (with no woman, and no marriage, involved).
Women in these countries are after the same thing women all over the world are - a man who will love them, respect them, and care for them.
I will admit that Romanian women tend to be much more materialistic than women I've dated in other countries, but they do have many wonderful qualities you won't find in others.
Just keep your wallet near, in all cases, and you will be ok.
You can find many "nice" girls in Romania and other countries and those that are desperate and want to escape no matter what lies they have to live with.
My own son met and married a girl from Hungary(his father is from there) who he dated for 3 years and lived with for a year before she came to the states with a green card and work papers in hand. Two months after she arrived in the states, all heck broke out with her and he got divorced.( I don't wish to get into it all but it was very bad)
So sometimes you can never really tell what you are getting into.
Before my son met his ex-wife, he met a beautiful girl in Hungary that was Romanian and from there. She treated him like a little king and she was sweet but she also was very open about working for an escort agency in Budapest, she just never charged my son because she considered him to be a boyfriend and not a john.
After a few weeks though, she came up with this story about her mother needing a heart operation and she wanted $1,200USD from our son. He was going to give it to her because he really liked her but the madam she worked for adviced him not to because she was really sending home money to her boyfriend in Romania.
Desperate people will say and do almost anything, just be careful.
EDIT: as to my son's ex, she was never deported for her actions because she made up false abuse charges against my son( seems to be the easy way to stay according to the family court people we HAD to speak with, they said it happens many times a day in their line of work) and frakly, the immagration services didn't have the time to return our calls. Once people are already in the states, it is hard to get them deported unless they comit a crime.
guess its a ex rusian ruled state.
you get what you pay for your asking for a socialist disease.
